Imeleta Tavete transformation and story after going through EmpowerHer coaching.
What was your biggest concern before you began working with Devon?
I had a lot of concerns. My biggest concern was my weight which effected my self image and anxiety. I couldn't look at myself in the mirror without crying - I loathed myself. I was scared of going to the gym and I would have anxiety attacks in the car before walking in. I had this fear that people would be looking at me or making fun of me (which by the way is not going to happen - thanks for talking me through this Devi).
What did you struggle with the most before this program and how did Devon help you overcome it?
I struggled with my self image. I let my worth and value be determined by the number I saw on a scale. Devon helped me realize that I have so much more to offer the world and I finally have the confidence that I so desperately wanted in the past.
I can now go to the gym by myself at any time and can actually say I enjoy it. She helped me flip my mind set - I remember going to the gym because I hated myself, motivating myself negatively - I now go to the gym because I love myself and love feeling strong and capable.
I also struggled with binge eating. I felt the need to do it all the time, and if I "screwed up" I would throw out the rest of the day, splurge and eat what ever the hell I wanted. Devon helped me break that cycle and again re-frame my mindset - failing and "falling off the wagon" doesn't happen anymore.
What was your favorite part about working with Devon?
The accountability and support. The encouragement. The realness. The fact that I can now walk into a gym and feel confident.
Devon drew a clear picture for me outlining why I felt the way I did and how to fix it - this has changed my life forever.
What is one thing you learned through this program?
That it's okay to love yourself and be loved despite the number on the scale.
