Let’s Get F*cking Uncomfortable

Let’s get fucking uncomfortable I’d rather sit in the discomfort of these conversations and be corrected when I get it wrong, then stay silent and watch that silence kill.

Choosing to not speak up because you want to avoid hard conversations and protect yourself from saying the wrong thing is the exact framework that functions to maintain white supremacy.

Silence contributes to the problem. Silence is deadly. Silence is what spreads the poison of racism.

I’m committed to doing better. I’m committed to acknowledging my privilege and using it to fight against racism and hold myself and other people accountable. I’m committed not to saying the right thing, but becoming the right thing. I’m committed to showing up and doing the work.

I’m okay with getting it wrong. I’m okay with making a mistake. I’m okay with being called out. I won’t let those things stop me from using my voice, instead I’ll say thank you because now I can be better.⠀

It’s okay if you get it wrong, expect mistakes. As long as you educate yourself, do the work, and lead with empathy—you’re being an ally.

Educate yourself. Stay informed. Call people out, call yourself out. Speak up. Take action.
