You Don't Have to get Through it Alone

I don’t know about you, but the month of June kicked me in the ass. Emotionally, physically, energetically—in every possible way it could fuck me, it did.

It’s so tempting to want to crawl into yourself and hide away from everyone when you’re in the depths of your darkness. And sometimes, you succumb to the temptation.

And it’s perfectly okay—we’re all really just doing our best to hold it together, and sometimes sequestering ourselves feels most appropriate.

I’d also like to remind you, like Tori reminded me when I lost sight of a comforting truth: doing it alone is never a necessity, it’s a choice.

We are not created to get through it on our own—we’re meant to get through it together. We are more successful at fighting our demons when we have an army backing us up. We heal ourselves and we heal others when we courageously open up and let someone else see our humanness.

And sometimes, all we really need to feel supported is for someone to relate to our experience and be with us as we’re in it to know we’re not the only ones. To know we’re not alone.

Never alone, always together.
