What to do with Negative Body Thoughts

If you’re grappling with some uncomfortable feelings and thoughts about your body, try this:

This is a tool I offer to my clients and it’s incredibly helpful:

> Notice what’s coming up, and label it as a thought: “I see I’m having this thought.”

> Observe the thought, without acting on the thought. For example, you might feel inclined to exercise to “burn off the food” or restrict your calories today because of the way you feel in your body. A huge part of healing your relationship with your body is not engaging in these behaviors anymore, so notice that the thought came up (which is natural) and you don’t have to do anything about it.

> Remind yourself these thoughts are coming from diet culture and you’re no longer living by that belief system anymore.

It’s natural for these thoughts to come up, but remember, you don’t have to engage. Try this out, and maybe after go do something that brings you joy. Happy Holidays, babes.
