How to Say "No" If You Are a People Pleaser

Where my recovering people-pleasers at?!

Saying no isn’t all that easy in the beginning—it can feel really uncomfortable, like *physically feeel* uncomfortable.

If you struggle to say no and you feel that physical discomfort, try this response instead and see how this feels:

“Thank you for asking. I would love to but I won’t be able to this evening.” Or, “Thank you for asking. I would love to but I’m going to need to get back to you.”

This can feel slightly easier to say and is usually better received than a flat out no. It also gives you the space to process and decide if you have the bandwidth or if you even want to do it in the first place.

Breaking the cycle of people-pleasing is an on-going practice. Be gentle with yourself and your process.
